I have 6 DLE engine's (35, 55, and 61) that have ran perfect. But I love the VVRC engine. This was my first VVRC engine and will be buying them moving forward. They come with the genuine Walbro carburetor and I installed the Bowman ring. This thing idols great, the transition is great and sounds awesome flying by at fill throttle. I have 20 flights on it now and it has not had one hiccup! Guys at the field are always commenting how great the engine sounds.
I would recommend this 70CC motor for anybody that is going to fly a giant scale plane...
I own two of these. First one was purchased for my 92" AJ Laser and it pulls it around nicely. Second one went in my 91" Skywing NG.
These motors get noticeably stronger as they break in and become dependable little monsters. I'm glad I pulled the trigger on this engine.
This engine is more massive than it looks in the picture. I plan on putting it in a 33% Piper tripacer P22. Looking at it from an engineering standpoint, this is a work of art. Could not ask for a finer piece of workmanship. Can't wait to get it in the plane. I will write another review after I've had it running.
Like it so far, very easy to start, getting stronger with each flight. More than enough power to pull my Pilot R/C 92in. Edge 540 out of a hover!
Bought the engine 2 1/2 years ago and have been flying it on a Pilot 31% Extra 330SC. Once the ignition issue was resolved (final solution is the RCXcel CDI) and the mufflers replaced with DLE 60T, the engine has been flawless. I have completely abandoned another famous USA engine supplier due to a terrible service issue and now run nothing but VVRC and DLE engines from, who else, but VVRC! Great products, great pricing and the best customer service and support.
Awesome engine and nice power and a great price compared to others in this range.
Didn't like the small metric mount bolts and nuts. Drilled out the mount plate to use 1/4x20 cap bolts and lock washers
I have this in a Aerobeez 93" Extra 330. The motor runs strong, transitions are perfect. Good low idle and strong top end. Exceeded every expectation that I had. I would absolutely recommend this VVRC engine.
Well designed and great running engine. Manual provided by Valley View RC is lacking, but more info available on RCGF version. For the 70T, don't try to run with ignition voltage below 6VDC. I tried with 5VDC and it would not run. After sending it back, Tom informed me they "like" 6+ volts so I removed the jumpers from my IBEC and now feed it with 6.6VDC (A123 2 cell). Starts and runs great with this voltage. Only have ten flights so can't vouch for long term reliability or durability of mufflers as stated by another reviewer.
Dear Tom,
While waiting for the new ignition, I hope you don’t mind if I make some considerations on your engine.
I liked it very much. It is very well made and the ignition plug caps are excellent. Much better than the standard ones. It also seems to be more powerful that the DLE 40 twin.
I always wanted to buy it. I purchased the DLE because it was out of stock right when I was on a trip to the US.
Although I replaced the DLE's CM6 plugs with ¼ x 32 ones to improve appearance, I had to take both plugs cap and one spark plug out every time I needed to remove the plane’s cowl. Very annoying.
Your engine solved all these problems.
With poor quality mufflers that have to be replaced with units from DLE almost immediately it needs to be factored into the cost of the purchase.
Great engine for the value. Service that Tom and Tammy provide is outstanding. They always wanted to know how to improve their products. I have a 70cc in a 90 inch S bach and a 70cc in a 94 inch MXS. OUTSTANDING!!!!
Lots of power, very smooth and throttle transition excellent.
