The HS-5985MG (replaces the HS-5945MG) offers the same technology as the HS-5965MG servo but with a lower gear ratio. As you can see from the specifications listed, the servo gains up to 53 oz-in. of torque yet still maintains a very fast transit time of .13 seconds to 60°. Coreless motors lack the iron core that standard motors use. The standard iron core is replaced with an epoxy resin that does not have a core at all. Coreless motors are much lighter and offer greater power which is one reason for the HS-5985MG's amazing 172 oz-in. of torque. Combining this technology with digital circuitry makes for one extremely fast and powerful servo. Special alloy gears called "Alumite" offer tremendous strength yet are lightweight as well.
